Carnal Knowledge
A body discovered in the creek of a small town. A disgraced city cop investigates a gruesome murder.
Deputy John Allan Simmons told himself that leaving the streets of Baltimore, Maryland and settling in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania would make his past seem like it never existed.
But when Deputy Simmons learns the local lore of Lanny Krum, a hermit not seen in decades who fits the profile of the possible killer, he becomes obsessed in not only finding out if Lanny Krum is myth or man, but if this could be his shot at redemption.
‘Carnal Knowledge’ is the story of a man who must confront his past as he comes face to face with a killer who threatens to upend his very sanity, and set in motion forces that could destroy him.

A Feast of Gods -Act I
It is Mateo’s forty-fourth birthday and tomorrow he is going to commit suicide in the winter wilderness of Val d’Aran along the Catalan Pyrenees. He has been to Val d’Aran before. When Mateo was a child he went camping with his mother and father there. They roasted marshmallows and told ghost stories and the tent flooded the first night due to heavy rains. His mother and father had argued. His father took him and left the mother at the campsite and went home to drink. The second time Mateo went to Val d’Aran he was sixteen and went camping with his girlfriend. They did not roast marshmallows. They had sex instead. When they were not having sex, they tended the fire and went swimming and horseback riding. He dug a pit in the ground and put charcoal briquettes in the pit and a pan on top for cooking. People passing by remarked on how clever he was. The cooking pit had worked well.
